Is it just us, or is October part of summer now?

Like so many things in the world today, it's time to change our thinking about October.

October is a time of fall leaves, sweaters, light jackets, and trick-or-treating. Right? If you live from DC to Cleveland, OH, to Bangor, ME, above-average temps are becoming the norm in October. It's not like we will see those triple-digit temperatures from July, but you don't need triple-digit temps to suffer the effects of the heat, like heat stress, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. So don't put that cooling vest away just yet.

The past 10 October's (2014–2023) have all been the warmest in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) global climate record. The YTD average global surface temperature ranked as the warmest period on record at 2.03 degrees F (1.13 degrees C) above the 20th-century average.

In a CNN article, Jennifer Marlon, a climate scientist at the Yale School of the Environment, stated that “the fall season is increasingly being seen as an extension of summer” and noted that “it's warming fast.”

NOAA has recorded significant increases in average temperatures, particularly in the Northeastern USA. Many people who live east and north of Ohio remember trick-or-treating in the snow, or have heard stories about it. In upstate New York, known for its heavy lake-effect snow, winters often see over 100 inches of snowfall. But lately, Halloween feels more like summer, with rising temperatures making it harder to stay cool, even under lightweight costumes.

That’s where the ThermApparel UnderCool 3 Cooling Vest comes in. Whether you’re dressing up for Halloween, raking leaves, hiking, or doing any fall activity that heats you up, this vest keeps you cool and comfortable. It’s lightweight, discreet, and designed to help you beat the heat, so you can enjoy everything fall has to offer—without getting overheated.

Remember, once temperatures hit 85°F, your body struggles to release the heat it generates. Even if it doesn’t feel scorching, it’s hot enough to put stress on your heart. Give your body a break before the heat builds up—whether you’re under a costume, working outdoors, or just staying active. The UnderCool 3 Cooling Vest is your key to staying cool and safe all season long.
