If you are staying at a hotel congratulations! You have access to all the free ice you need. Locate the ice machine in your hotel and fill up your 3 gal bag, add some water from your room, add your packs, zip the bag, and lay it in your tub. 30 min. later your packs are frozen and ready to go.
Q. But wait. I have a mini-fridge in my room. Can't I use that?
A. Not really, mini-fridges don't work that well if at all. You can use the mini-fridge but it will take 12-24 hours to refreeze depending on how well your mini-fridge works
Q. How can I refreeze my packs if I am in the convention hall?
A. Take the bag of ice with you. Put it in an insulated lunch bag and put that bag in your backpack. When you are ready to refreeze add some water, add your packs, and wait 30 min.
Tip: If you have 2 sets of cooling packs, leave one set in the ice water and just switch them as needed. They will refreeze faster than they deplete. That way you can stay cool at the Con all day long. Use the towel to wipe off the packs before you put them in your Vest Garment.
Q. Where do I find ice at the convention hall?
A. Ask the food vendor which is usually the convention hall staff, they have huge ice machines in back. If they say no ask how much a few cups of ice would cost or how much to fill your plastic bag halfway. If they still say no, ask where the medical first-aid station is. Go talk to the first aid folks and tell them you are overheating and need some ice and water to refreeze your cooling packs so you don't experience heat stroke.
