Meet Megan
Megan is a self-taught artist who uses illustration to cope with her chronic health conditions, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Postural-Orthostatic-Tachycardia Syndrome, POTS. While studying Occupational Therapy, she experienced an episode of spontaneous paralysis that led her back into a hunt for a diagnosis after years of stable health, and forced her to examine and explore her own concepts of ability and disability.
Anatomically accurate illustration paired with incorporation of botanical and geometric elements allows Megan to creatively explore the way bodies “should be,” and all the various ways that things can go “wrong.” Megan’s art develops out of a strong belief that #anatomyisnotgross, and aims to normalize accurate discussion of health and body systems while educating people about the conditions she battles daily.
Because of her ThermApparel UnderCool Cooling Vest Megan is able to run her own business Unstrung Studios, hike, kayak, run errands and enjoy summer.
"It's been a total game changer in terms of being able to do outdoor events and not take like a week and a half to recover because it helps me keep my core temp down and my symptoms manageable. I worn them kayaking. I've worn them to run my errands because I get really warm and it's amazing. "

Freeze up. If you are heat intolerant, or you struggle with warm temperatures, or you're just a sweaty person. Not just that you don't like heat but it's that medically your body can't tolerate it. Your heart rate skyrockets, your blood pressure drops, sometimes you get blood pooling.
For me, the biggest thing is that my brain just stops working because the blood isn't getting there. I wish someone had told me about this when I was first diagnosed with POTS.
Ice Vest (actually not ice...PCM Cooling Packs). It's a vest of ice and no I don't just strap ice packs on, because that's bad for you, you might get freezer burn. These Cooling Vests are made with phase change materials. A fancy way to say that it freezes at a temperature other than freezing. So these freeze around 70 means they can be against your skin for long periods of time and you won't get freezer burn or redness or any of the icky things.
So typically, I wear mine under my clothes and I was going to show you that but my mom is on TikTok. So I'm going to put it on over.
I searched for a long time before I found these and the issue was always that I have a bosum, titties, breasts. I didn't want to smush them and these don't. Because underneath, I did a sloppy velcro shot.
Megan, I don't want to where that. Jokes on you because I already have one on and you had no idea. They stay cool for like 2-3 hours I've worn them too events. I worn them kayaking. I've worn them to run my errands because I get really warm and it's amazing.
This is not an ad. I have no like affiliation with the company. I just seriously wish someone had told me sooner. So I'm telling you, I got mine from a company called ThermApparel because they're located in my hometown. (Rochester, NY)
If you're like me and you do a reverse bear and you hibernate in the summer, I really encourage you to check them out because it's been a total game changer in terms of being able to like do outdoor events and not take like a week and a half to recover because it helps me keep my core temp down and my symptoms manageable. If you've got questions just ask.
